About the role

  • Department staff work year-round to ensure that every eligible San Franciscan has easy access to safe, barrier-free registration and voting options.
  • The Department also works continuously to improve its elections programs with the goal of making them ever more efficient and responsive to the needs of San Francisco voters.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the recruitment, onboarding, training, assignment, and support of poll worker in preparation for Election Day.
  • Maintain regular communication with poll workers via mail, email and phone.
  • Maintain Excel spreadsheets and tracking tools to organize poll worker assignments, ensuring all Election Day sites are fully staffed.

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will:
  • Successful candidates will be required to show their valid CA driver's license and provide a copy of their latest DMV record before an offer can be made.
  • To be considered for the position, applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. July 31, 2026.
  • Travel within the city and field work will be required as needed.
  • Although most work is expected to be completed during normal workday hours, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday, employees must be available to work overtime both during the week and on weekends as necessary.

Nice to have

  • Have demonstrated ability to quickly learn new systems, procedures, and election-related subject matter in a deadline-driven environment
  • Have experience with public-facing roles such as outreach, training facilitation, or customer service.
  • Possess a high level of computer literacy, particularly proficiency with Excel, Outlook, and databases
  • Have a strong team work ethic and can-do/will-do attitude, and solid interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Have the willingness and flexibility to work extended hours, evenings, weekends, and overtime as required during the election cycle.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to excellent public service and impartiality

Compensation

  • $32.1625 to $39.10 hourly
  • $66,898 to $81,328 annually
