Located within the Central Treatment Facility, the school also supports students housed in the Central Detention Facility.
Position Overview The History Teacher will support instructional services provided to adult scholars within a secure facility.
In one class period, the History Teacher will support scholars taking multiple courses-including accelerated offerings-across the following content areas: Civics, World History I, World History II, US History, US Government, DC History & Government.
Use restorative practices to support scholars' academic and behavioral growth.

Site Description The Maya Angelou Academy at the DC Department of Corrections is an alternative school serving incarcerated men and women ages 18-25 with individualized education plans.
Designed to meet the unique needs of justice-involved students requiring special education, the academy provides educational opportunities regardless of their academic history or current standing.
Maintain a positive, structured learning environment for all scholars.
Work closely with colleagues, leadership, and facility staff to ensure delivery of a well-rounded educational program.
