About the role

Are you an experienced Senior Database Administrator with practical working knowledge in both Azure cloud and either Snowflake or with Tableau Server, Power BI Server and SSRS Server?
We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator t o ensure our data systems are secure, optimized, and ready for the future.
Fix and improve: You'll spend time finding bottlenecks that slow us down and fixing them so everything runs as fast as possible.

Join Multnomah County as a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to lead our transition from on-premise servers to a modern cloud architecture.
Keep things running: You will manage our sql servers and databases every day, making sure they have enough space and are set up correctly for our team to use.
Lead our move to the cloud: You'll help us redesign how we store data, shifting from older on-site setups to modern cloud technology like Azure and Snowflake.
A team player: You enjoy building relationships and working side-by-side with others to get the job done.
You may ultimately be reassigned from your current position to a role in the emergency response to support the critical needs presented by our communities.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience will be considered
5 years of experience in database administration. (Equivalency 9 years of qualifying training and/or experience).
You must demonstrate that you have (KSAs) skills listed below.

○ Working knowledge of security, authorization, and authentication in Microsoft Active Directory and Azure Entra ID.
○ Basic knowledge of networking and firewall concepts.
○ Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server administration.
○ Basic knowledge of SAN/NAS Storage management and concepts.
○ Basic knowledge of virtualization technology using MS Windows Hyper-V or VMWare.
○ Basic knowledge of MS Windows Server high availability technologies Application Development, architectures, languages, and/or tools.

You will be joining the IT Division within the Department of County Assets (DCA).
Led by IT Manager Michelle Smith, our seasoned team focuses on providing the technical support that keeps the whole County moving.
We are currently in the middle of a major shift to more modern cloud-based tools, and we are looking for someone who is as excited about this evolution as we are.
We will consider any combination of relevant work experience, volunteering, education, and transferable skills as qualifying.

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills:
This position requires specialized knowledge.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
○ Advanced knowledge of or skill in Azure Cloud (Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure DevOps, Azure Boards, etc).
○ Advanced knowledge of or skill with Business Intelligence Data Marts, and Data Warehousing, including design and best practices.
○ Advanced experience working with developers to build ETLs for loading data for reporting.
