About the role

  • Are you an experienced Senior Database Administrator with practical working knowledge in both Azure cloud and either Snowflake or with Tableau Server, Power BI Server and SSRS Server?
  • We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator t o ensure our data systems are secure, optimized, and ready for the future.
  • Fix and improve: You'll spend time finding bottlenecks that slow us down and fixing them so everything runs as fast as possible.

  • Join Multnomah County as a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to lead our transition from on-premise servers to a modern cloud architecture.
  • Keep things running: You will manage our sql servers and databases every day, making sure they have enough space and are set up correctly for our team to use.
  • Lead our move to the cloud: You'll help us redesign how we store data, shifting from older on-site setups to modern cloud technology like Azure and Snowflake.
  • A team player: You enjoy building relationships and working side-by-side with others to get the job done.
  • You may ultimately be reassigned from your current position to a role in the emergency response to support the critical needs presented by our communities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience will be considered
  • 5 years of experience in database administration. (Equivalency 9 years of qualifying training and/or experience).
  • You must demonstrate that you have (KSAs) skills listed below.

  • ○ Working knowledge of security, authorization, and authentication in Microsoft Active Directory and Azure Entra ID.
  • ○ Basic knowledge of networking and firewall concepts.
  • ○ Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server administration.
  • ○ Basic knowledge of SAN/NAS Storage management and concepts.
  • ○ Basic knowledge of virtualization technology using MS Windows Hyper-V or VMWare.
  • ○ Basic knowledge of MS Windows Server high availability technologies Application Development, architectures, languages, and/or tools.

Compensation

  • $62.73 - $77.16 Hourly

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
  • ○ Advanced knowledge of or skill in Azure Cloud (Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure DevOps, Azure Boards, etc).
  • ○ Advanced knowledge of or skill with Business Intelligence Data Marts, and Data Warehousing, including design and best practices.
  • ○ Advanced experience working with developers to build ETLs for loading data for reporting.
