About the role

  • Elk Valley Resources (EVR) operates four steelmaking coal mines that employ over 5,000 people in the Elk Valley of British Columbia.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in mine scheduling and design across a wide range of planning horizons, including pit, spoil, haulage and closure design while considering sustainable development
  • Perform iterative KPI analysis and reconciliation to drive continuous improvement and support robust decision making
  • Carry out economic evaluations to support decisions (mine‑plan scenarios, equipment purchases, operational strategies, etc.)
  • Maintain planning data and support data‑management best practices
  • Assist in developing mine permit applications and amendments, ensuring mine plans comply with permit requirements

Requirements

  • Experience with mine‑scheduling software (e.g., XPAC Solutions) and mine‑design software (e.g., Minesight 3D)
  • Successful candidates must be willing to satisfy the pre-employment requirements of a pre-employment drug screen and three professional references.

Nice to have

  • Minimum one year of experience in mine planning is preferred

Compensation

  • 91, 300 - 126,800 CAD/ year For applicants registered as an EIT or GIT, annual base salary will be determined by EVR's formal progression matrix based on verified relevant years of experience The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
  • Contribute to the development of annual reserves and resources reporting
