About the role

  • As an Associate Director on our Life/Health Insurance team, you will join a supportive and collaborative group of approximately 15 analysts with diverse backgrounds and experiences in the financial services sector.
  • Our team specializes in conducting comprehensive credit analysis for life/health insurance financial strength and debt ratings, working closely with analytical colleagues across the U.S. & Canada.
  • We operate in a hybrid work environment that values both teamwork and individual excellence, fostering an atmosphere where experienced professionals can grow while mentoring the next generation of analysts.

Responsibilities

  • Coach and mentor junior analysts, providing analytical support to team members and fostering a collaborative environment
  • Deliver high-quality analytical work consistently while meeting critical deadlines
  • By valuing different perspectives and promoting a culture of respect and collaboration, we drive innovation and power global markets.
  • The Policy is designed to promote compliance with global regulations.

Requirements

  • An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 6+ years of experience in financial statement analysis, accounting concepts and financial modeling, preferably with experience in corporate credit analysis
  • Strong client-facing skills with ability to communicate complex analytical concepts to diverse audiences
  • Ability to think independently and critically with strong integrity, analytical curiosity, problem-solving, and research skills
  • Ability to accurately interpret financial data and appropriately apply analytical criteria to generate key insights and conclusions
  • Proactive and organized with excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize multiple competing deadlines
  • This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer

Nice to have

  • Experience in mentoring or coaching junior professionals in analytical roles
  • Demonstrated presentation experience with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience with financial modeling and forecasting for insurance entities
  • Knowledge of insurance industry regulations and compliance requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Mathematics, or related analytical field
  • MBA, CPA, or CFA preferred
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting and capital markets, with knowledge of credit rating methodologies preferred
