About the role
- BNL is the US extreme scientific scale Data Laboratory.
- The SDCC has an opening for a Technology Analyst/Senior Technology Analyst to take a supporting role in scientific computing for the RHIC and ATLAS programs.
- The full salary range for this position is $77250 -128800 / year.
Responsibilities
- Participate in off-hours support of the data center
- A minimum of 1 year of full-time experience in data center-related operations, such as hardware installation and lifecycle management, software upgrades and end-user support
- The mission of the Scientific Data & Computing Center (SDCC) at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) is to provide computational support for BNL scientific programs.
- Within a team that manages thousands of computer and storage servers, the selected candidate will contribute to supporting these systems (deployment, monitoring, resource scheduling, etc.) and in defining the facility evolution to support massive data processing and computing needs.
Requirements
- Occasional travel (foreign and domestic) may be required.
- This is due to nationwide identification requirements for federal site access as required by the federal REAL ID Act.

Skills
- Familiarity with asset management and validation in a large computing center environment
- Ability to perform physically demanding work occasionally
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously in a collaborative environment with time-sensitive deadlines
- Clear and concise oral/written communication skills
- Familiarity with high-performance disk storage systems
- Familiarity with high-performance and high-throughput computing clusters
- Working knowledge of networks and networking concepts
- Basic IT services that interface facility with user-facing services
- Configuration management and version control software
- Familiarity with Collaborative Tools, such as MatterMost and Jira.
