Responsibilities
- Performs routine and assigned activities in the Fire Academy Program.
- Assists instructors during scheduled skills labs, live fire training support, and practical evaluations.
- Supports check-in/check-out processes for fire gear, tools, SCBAs, and College-owned vehicles; reports violations or safety concerns.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Must maintain authorization to drive College-owned vehicles.
Requirements
- Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discrimination in sound.
- Occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles.
- Ability to make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes.
- Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word including the ability to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately and concisely.
- Operates and conducts routine preventive maintenance on College vehicles; notifies appropriate personnel of any vehicle maintenance required.
- College Certificate, a minimum of 30 college hours required.
- Must be insurable under South Texas College's insurance policy for driving.
- Must have a valid Texas driver's license and be insurable under South Texas College's insurance policy for driving.
- Successful completion of the Basic Structural Fire Fighter Course required.
