About the role
- As a Fire Protection / Sprinkler Designer, you will be responsible for the design, coordination, and delivery of fire protection systems, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards while supporting the safety and performance of building environments.
Responsibilities
- Design & Technical Execution
- Design fire protection and sprinkler systems, including standpipe and fire pump systems
- Perform hydraulic calculations using HYDRACALC
- Evaluate hazards, commodities, and water supply to establish appropriate design criteria
- Prepare detailed drawings, system layouts, and equipment room designs
- Coordinate designs with mechanical, electrical, architectural, and structural teams
- Attend design and coordination meetings
- Site Work & Construction Support
- Attend construction meetings and provide support during project execution
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders
Requirements
- Engineering Technology Diploma or Mechanical Engineering Degree
- Proven experience with sprinkler, standpipe, fire pump, and water supply systems
- Proficiency with HYDRACALC and AutoCAD (REVIT experience is an asset)
- Strong knowledge of NFPA standards and OBC requirements
- Ability to attend construction sites and access mechanical/service areas
- Conduct hydrant flow tests and site assessments as required
