About the role
- At Solace, data is at the core of how we operate.
- We are a rapidly scaling startup where we work hard, move fast, and wear many hats.
- We are looking for a Data Analyst who thrives in this high-growth environment and excels at transforming data into actionable insights and operational improvements.
Responsibilities
- Drive Operational Excellence: Proactively identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in our processes.
- You will serve as the bridge between raw data and business strategy, transforming complex datasets into actionable insights and operational improvements that drive the business forward.
- Build Scalable Analytics: Design, implement, and maintain tracking systems and dashboards that automate manual reporting. You will ensure stakeholders have self-serve access to the metrics that matter most.
- Curate the Data Layer: Collaborate with engineering to maintain clean, reliable data models. You will help refine our SQL transformations to ensure our data infrastructure scales with our growth.
- Wrangle Complex Data: Perform detailed work with structured and semi-structured data (including nested JSON) to extract relevant signals from the noise.
- Design, implement, and maintain tracking systems and dashboards that automate manual reporting.
- Collaborate with engineering to maintain clean, reliable data models.
- You will build the systems that help us ask better questions and figure out key insights for the path forward.
Requirements
- 3+ Years of Experience in data analytics at a tech company, marketplace, or product-led startup where data directly informed product or business decisions.
- Advanced SQL & Snowflake: You are an expert at writing efficient, complex queries to extract and manipulate data from cloud data warehouses like Snowflake.
- Data Wrangling Expertise: You are comfortable working with messy, real-world data, including parsing nested JSON and cleaning unstructured datasets.
- Strong Communication: You can explain complex data concepts to product managers, operations teams, and executives alike.
- Python/R: Experience using scripting languages for automation, advanced statistical analysis, or forecasting.
- Process Optimization: A background in operations, where you have successfully used data to streamline workflows and reduce manual overhead.
- Applicants must be based in the United States.

- Business Impact Orientation: You measure the success of your work by the business outcome it produced - not by what you built. You lead with the "so what" before the methodology and can speak fluently to the impact of your work without being prompted.
- BI & Dashboarding: You have strong experience designing interactive dashboards and reports. Familiarity with Hex (or similar notebook-based BI tools) is highly preferred. Experience with Looker, Tableau, or Metabase is also valuable.
- Analytical Mindset: You don't just pull data
- you analyze it to find the root cause of business problems.
- Startup DNA: You are comfortable with ambiguity, ready to adapt to shifting priorities, and willing to jump in and support the team wherever needed. You understand the difference between a perfect answer in three months and a good enough answer today - and you default to the latter.
- Bonus Points
- dbt (Highly Preferred): Familiarity with dbt is highly preferred - not just a nice-to-have. We value analysts who can manage their own transformations and contribute to our core data models.
