Responsibilities

  • Lead selection strategy and hiring execution across Brooklyn, ensuring schools are staffed effectively across instructional, operations, and specialized support roles.
  • Partner with school and regional leaders to understand hiring needs, staffing risks, and recruitment priorities.
  • Develop and adjust recruitment strategies based on hiring progress, candidate pipelines, and regional staffing goals.
  • Support complex and high-priority searches as needed to ensure strong hiring outcomes.
  • Manage and develop a team of Talent Recruiters through coaching, feedback, performance management, and professional development.
  • Build recruiter effectiveness and accountability through clear expectations, ongoing support, and development opportunities.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to Principals, Directors of Operations, Regional Superintendents, and other regional leaders throughout the hiring process.
  • Partner with school leaders to strengthen interview processes and ensure efficient, equitable hiring practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • At least 5-6 years of relevant experience in talent acquisition, recruitment, human resources, people operations, school leadership, operations leadership, or a related field.
  • Experience managing hiring processes and partnering with multiple stakeholders to achieve hiring goals.
  • Experience using data to monitor progress, identify trends, and inform decisions.

Nice to have

  • Experience managing recruiters or talent acquisition professionals.
  • Experience supporting instructional, operations, or school-based hiring.
  • Ability to participate in moderate physical activity, including standing or walking for extended periods, setting up materials or equipment, and carrying objects weighing up to 40 pounds.

Compensation

  • The full compensation range for this role is $107,100-$126,000.
  • Typically, new hires who fully meet the qualifications and experience expectations for the role will start at or near $110,300.
  • Starting compensation below this reflects candidates with less experience or qualifications.
  • Compensation determinations consider relevant experience and tenure with Uncommon Schools.
  • Additionally, because we value internal growth and tenure, current staff members are not subject to salary caps within this range.
