About the role

  • Northside Veterinary Clinic is seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Receptionist to serve as the primary point of contact for our clients and their pets.
  • Qualified candidates will bring demonstrated experience managing high-volume front desk operations, a calm and composed presence under pressure, and a commitment to delivering consistent, high-quality customer service in a clinical setting.
  • Salary: $24 - $27 per hour, determined by the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Answer and manage a multi-line telephone system, responding to inquiries regarding appointment scheduling, prescription refill requests, vaccination records, and general hospital information
  • Perform client check-out, including processing payments, posting charges, explaining invoices, and scheduling follow-up appointments
  • Coordinate with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff to relay client communications, flag urgent cases, and maintain efficient patient flow
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the reception area and waiting room to ensure a positive client experience

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a veterinary receptionist is required
  • Proven customer service skills
  • Candidates must have availability Monday through Friday (8:45 AM-6:00 PM) and rotating Saturdays (8:45 AM-4:00 PM).
  • Experience with veterinary practice management software; Cornerstone, Avimark, ImproMed, eVetPractice, or ezyVet preferred
  • Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology, vaccination protocols, and basic diagnostic procedures
  • Proficiency in appointment scheduling, multi-line phone management, medical records management, and payment processing
  • Proven customer service skills; ability to manage high-volume client relations with composure and accuracy
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including active listening and conflict resolution
  • Comfortable handling animals of varying sizes, breeds, and temperaments, including fearful or reactive patients

Nice to have

  • Cornerstone, Avimark, ImproMed, eVetPractice, or ezyVet preferred
  • Experience with veterinary practice management software

Compensation

  • $24 - $27 per hour, determined by the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.
