About the role

  • Oversee repair and maintenance of trucks and trailers for CDL program.
  • Teach CDL classroom and student driving sessions assigned.
  • Coordinate training schedules with other driving instructor(s).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain records of student instructional appointments and drive time.
  • Coordinate with program secretary concerning additional drive time purchases and course completion certificates.
  • Create and prepare instructional materials as needed.
  • Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully perform the responsibilities of the position.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the CDL Coordinator.

Requirements

  • Valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License) required with airbrake endorsement, The successful candidate's driving record will be checked.
  • The ability to communicate well orally and in writing.
  • Required physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds, walking, bending, stooping, carrying, etc., and excellent communication skills
  • ability to work independently
  • Mental requirements include the ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position.

  • The ability and willingness to teach classroom sessions, driving knowledge and skills to students with little or no tractor/trailer driving experience.

Compensation

  • This part-time support staff position is 12 months annual, 20-25 hours per week.

Benefits

  • This position qualified for the Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS) plan but is not eligible for the HutchCC fringe benefit plan due to the part-time status.
