About the role

  • Our Regional Development team is growing, and we're open to candidates at either the Associate or Senior Associate level for this opportunity.
  • Working in a lean, highly collaborative environment, you'll contribute across every phase of the project lifecycle, partnering closely with third-party consultants and LAC's Originations, Finance, Legal, Asset Management, and Construction teams.
  • This is an excellent opportunity for a real estate professional with exposure to affordable multifamily development who is looking to strengthen project management skills and gain hands-on experience across the full development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Support financing partners and consultants from site control through closing while maintaining accurate development schedules.
  • Set up and monitor project budgets and construction progress, and coordinate funding draws in collaboration with LAC Construction, Finance, and external partners.
  • Manage financing closing checklists and maintain accurate, up-to-date reporting in internal systems (e.g., Dealpath, Smartsheet).
  • Support cross-functional development team members with contract and proposal reviews, accounts payable coordination, and engagement with third-party partners, including architects, property managers, insurance providers, and general contractors.
  • Use AI tools to support project analysis, documentation, and reporting across development workstreams, with appropriate review for accuracy.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • You'll help drive projects toward successful and timely closings, support strong portfolio performance, and capture lessons learned to improve execution across future developments.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Highly detail- and process-oriented, with a demonstrated ability to keep development approvals and transactions on schedule.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting real estate closings and/or coordinating legal documentation, with knowledge of or exposure to affordable housing development.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, with strong organizational and project management skills (including maintaining and executing closing checklists).
  • Proficiency using AI tools to streamline research, drafting, and data organization while maintaining strong judgment and attention to detail.
  • To be considered at the Senior Associate: 5-7 years of relevant experience supporting real estate transactions/development (e.g., lender, investor, developer, or closing coordination).
  • Associate degree or a bachelor's degree, Legal Studies/Paralegal program, or related field with demonstrated performance and leadership in school and/or professionally (ie lender, investor, developer closing coordinator role) is required.

Compensation

  • What We Offer The expected base salary for the role at both levels is provided below.
  • To determine starting pay, we carefully consider a variety of factors, including primary work location and an evaluation of a candidate's skills, experience, market demands, and internal parity.
  • Associate-Level (3-5 years of experience): $105,000 - $115,000 Sr.
  • Associate-Level (3-5 years of experience): $95,000 - $105,000 Sr.
  • The expected base salary for the role at both levels is provided below.
  • Los Angeles Salary Band: Associate-Level (3-5 years of experience): $105,000 - $115,000 Sr.
  • Associate-Level (5-7 years of experience): $120,000 - $135,000 Minneapolis Salary Band: Associate-Level (3-5 years of experience): $95,000 - $105,000 Sr.
