About the role

  • Silver Mountain is a certified 8(a) small disadvantaged business headquartered in Alaska with offices nationwide.
  • POSITION PURPOSE: The Superintendent will serve on a large USACE renovation project on JBER, AK.
  • Prepares schedules or assists scheduler for pay estimates and 3-week look ahead.

Responsibilities

  • Performs accurate hazardous waste determinations in accordance with 40 CFR 262.11 and serves as Waste Manager.

Requirements

  • Skills and Abilities: Must have strong interpersonal skills to be able to communicate work requirements with various staff and subcontractors.
  • Knowledge of USACE EM 385-1-1.
  • Must be able to meet the standards required to obtain and hold general clearance for access to military installations.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment background check and drug screening.
  • Must be local to Anchorage / Mat-Su Borough or be willing to relocate.
  • Special Requirements: Knowledge of USACE EM 385-1-1.
  • Ensures the project maintains the required schedule by organizing, planning, monitoring, and inspecting work.
  • Prepares takeoffs or assists project manager with all required materials and ensure that materials and equipment are delivered to the site on time.
  • Assists project manager in defining subcontract scopes of work and ensuring subcontractors are on the project when required and progress in accordance with the Government-approved schedule.
  • Other duties, responsibilities, and qualifications may be required and/or assigned as necessary.

Nice to have

  • OSHA 30 certificate or ability to obtain at the time of hire.
  • CPR - First Aid certification.
  • USACE Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQM-C) certificate.
  • Experience in the areas of hazard identification, safety compliance, and sustainability is desirable.
  • The work involves sitting, walking or standing for brief periods of time.
  • The work may involve exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • This role also requires the ability to climb a ladder up to 35ft high.
  • The position requires working at the construction job site for extended periods of time.

Skills

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills to be able to communicate work requirements with various staff and subcontractors.
  • Must be a self-starter, well organized, and able to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Able to communicate both written and verbally in English.
  • Able to be flexible and adapt to constant change.
  • Knowledge of acceptable construction site practices including occupational safety and health regulations.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems such as Adobe Pro (PDF), Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word is desired.
