About the role

  • The Manual Grinder will work with Chamfer Grinders, and other various manual machines to produce premium quality, high precision, cutting tools.
  • Will verify accuracy by using engineering prints, component drawings, assembly drawings, and engineering specifications.
  • Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stoop, bend or kneel when required.
  • Strong math skills required to perform day to day operations including the ability to convert metric to inch and decimal to fraction.
  • Responsible for the setup and offsets as required.
  • Required Skills/Abilities:

Nice to have

  • Certification from a qualified training institution in the field of machining is preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 1 year machine shop experience is required.
  • Experience with Surface Grinders is preferred.

Skills

  • Ability to accurately read blueprints.
  • Ability to calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Ability to machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines and grinders.
  • Ability to measure, examine, and test completed tools in order to detect defects and ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Ability to monitor feeds and speeds of machines during the machining process.
