About the role
- The Manual Grinder will work with Chamfer Grinders, and other various manual machines to produce premium quality, high precision, cutting tools.
- Will verify accuracy by using engineering prints, component drawings, assembly drawings, and engineering specifications.
- Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stoop, bend or kneel when required.
- Strong math skills required to perform day to day operations including the ability to convert metric to inch and decimal to fraction.
- Responsible for the setup and offsets as required.
- Required Skills/Abilities:
Nice to have
- Certification from a qualified training institution in the field of machining is preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 1 year machine shop experience is required.
- Experience with Surface Grinders is preferred.
Skills
- Ability to accurately read blueprints.
- Ability to calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
- Ability to machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines and grinders.
- Ability to measure, examine, and test completed tools in order to detect defects and ensure conformance with specifications.
- Ability to monitor feeds and speeds of machines during the machining process.
