About the role

This position requires a valid driver's license and compliance with TNC's Auto Safety Program.
Employment in this position will be contingent upon completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement, which may include a review of the prospective employee's motor vehicle record.
Salary Information: The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $64,000-$68,500 annually.

Responsibilities

Identify, envision, develop, oversee and support aquatic connectivity projects (including dam removal, culvert replacement and floodplain reconnection) with key partners in priority landscapes in WV in support of a new Reconnected Rivers strategy for the Business Unit.
This will include tasks such as grant writing, project and proposal development, partnership building, and project management, including managing external relationships, budgets, subcontractors, timelines, and tracking progress and outcomes.
Advance dam removal projects in two to three additional states by helping identify project opportunities, coordinating with partners, and supporting early project development.
This includes working with statewide aquatic connectivity teams, Business Units, engineering firms, and partners to identify priority projects, support early engineering and grant development, track project progress, and help ensure successful completion of project deliverables.

Requirements

Experience negotiating complex agreements.
Experience communicating with the public and/or media both in writing and verbally.
Experience using applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Web Browsers.
Knowledge of freshwater/ aquatic conservation practice and conservation science.
Experience with dam removal and culvert replacement/aquatic organism passage projects.
Experience in development and implementation of equitable conservation strategies with local communities and a diversity of stakeholders.
Experience coordinating multiple, complex projects with several variables, setting realistic deadlines, managing timeframes and completing tasks independently.
This employee may be required to negotiate, draft, and manage contracts for engineering design, project construction and managing contractors to obtain project completion.

Compensation

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $64,000-$68,500 annually.
Where a successful candidate's actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience.
Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges.
