Responsibilities
- Assist Management in the design and analysis of AC and DC traction power distribution systems, including substations, overhead catenary systems (OCS), and third rail systems.
- Lead the design, analysis, and delivery of traction power distribution systems, including substations, overhead catenary systems (OCS), and third rail systems, ensuring technical excellence and consistency.
- Develop and implement discipline standards, best practices, and QA/QC procedures across traction power projects.
- Direct and perform advanced power system studies, including load-flow, short circuit, grounding/bonding, and harmonic analysis.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and project stakeholders to ensure fully integrated multidisciplinary designs.
- Lead development of technical reports, specifications, and construction documents for discipline deliverables.
- Support strategic initiatives such as simulation practice expansion, other rail discipline expansion, digital delivery, and new tool adoption.
- Experience in traction power design with demonstrated leadership in project teams.
- 15 years work experience in performing AC and DC Traction Power Design projects.
Requirements
- Experience leading traction power work for major transit clients (SEPTA, Amtrak, WMATA, NJ Transit, PATH, etc.).
- Ability to assist in managing discipline budgets, staffing, and technical risk across multiple concurrent projects.
Nice to have
- Master's in Electrical Engineering
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
- Expertise in AC and DC traction power concepts, system modeling, and load-flow simulation software (OpenPowerNet, ETRAX, Train, ETAP, SKM).
- Experience with mentoring and developing engineers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent the discipline to senior stakeholders and clients.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies.
- Desire to work in a fast-paced dynamic work environment.
