About the role
- Under general direction, responsible for engineering activities associated with civil/structural activities at the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station.
- Works independently with minimal guidance using knowledge of civil engineering concepts.
- Provide technical expertise and consultation to identify/resolve equipment and system problems.
Responsibilities
- May provide guidance and direction to other Talen Energy employees to support production of high quality, timely and cost-effective engineering solutions to technical problems.
- Provide in-depth technical expertise to develop, manage and implement engineering analysis, activities and programs
- Assists with developing procedures, improving design recommendations and new equipment purchase recommendations.
- Leading multi-discipline teams as the Lead Responsible Engineer for plant design changes.
- Preparation and review of design change packages and design calculations in accordance with plant procedures.
- Providing support for outages, emergent issues and generation challenges which may require shift work/off hours.
- Performing other assigned duties as determined by the Civil/Structural Design Engineering Branch Manager.
Requirements
- BS Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Minimum of five years related civil or structural engineering experience in nuclear or relevant industry.
- Working knowledge of Seismic/Dynamic Qualification/Program, Heavy Load Program, Tornado generated Missile Impact considerations, rigging evaluations and temporary shielding evaluations.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Pennsylvania, or a Licensed Professional Engineer in another state with the ability to obtain Pennsylvania Licensing within a year of hire.
