About the role
- Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating the total nursing care of assigned patients.
- The RN may work in a variety of settings in the Perioperative Services Complex and roles within Riverside Health System.
- Responsible for supervising and delegating non-professional personnel working directly with him/her to ensure optimum patient care.
Responsibilities
- Partners with patients and families to develop, implement and evaluate plan of care, treatments and procedures that contribute to the physiological and psychosocial outcomes of the patient.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team in the coordination care.
- Evaluates own needs for support and uses identified systems to meet need.
- Cardiothoracic OR RN will support the RRMC Cardiothoracic surgery program.
- The RN utilizes communication, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making to create a care plan for each patient based on physiological, psychosocial and cultural diversity.
- This role is expected to float among other RHS facilities and perform like competencies of their primary role.
- RN must maintain competencies unique to Cardiothoracic surgery to include assisting, anticipating, scrubbing, and preparing for complex Cardiothoracic surgery cases.
- Evaluates for patient comprehension and documents.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED, HS Diploma/GED only required if Nursing Diploma Graduate (Required)
- 6 months Cardiothoracic OR RN Operating Room Experience (Required)
- 2 years OR RN Operating Room Experience (Required)
- Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) - The Competency & Credentialing Institute (CCI) within 1 Year(Required)
- Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
- Document required information for registry and antibiotics and beta blocker timing.

- Program Graduate, Nursing (Nursing Diploma is minimum education requirement, Associate's or Bachelor's in Nursing accepted in lieu of Nursing Diploma) (Required) and

- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) or licensed in a compact state Upon Hire(Required) and
- CPR/BLS Certification
- American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required) and
- ACLS Provider
- Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR)
- The Competency & Credentialing Institute (CCI) within 1 Year(Required)
- Call Rotation
Compensation
- $41k-$56k

- $41.00 - $56.38/HourlyActual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.
- Demonstrates understanding of diverse patient care populations and ability to modify education method to ensure patient/family comprehension.
- Educates by assuming responsibility to individualize and coordinate patient education, and discharge specific education that includes family/caregiver.
