About the role

  • The midpoint of the range is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum and represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains the Asbestos Management Program, ensures all relevant information is entered into the Asbestos Database, and provides asbestos information and support to UBC Facilities and the larger UBC community.
  • Investigates and assesses occupational exposures, including occupational monitoring (e.g. air, noise sampling) using acceptable monitoring methods, in collaboration with other SRS Research Compliance and Occupational Hygiene Advisors, UBC Facilities managers, supervisors and workers to develop solutions;

Requirements

  • Also provides specialized/tailored sessions as required to UBC Facilities, and additional faculty and staff on campus;

Nice to have

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated high level of written and oral communication including presentations in group settings.
  • Conflict resolution and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Assertive, self-starter, able to work under limited supervision to meet program goals.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise tact and discretion and work in a team environment and make sound technical decisions

Compensation

  • $6,438.50 - $9,255.58 CAD Monthly The Compensation Range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for a position.
  • In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.
