About the role
- The Town of Avon, Colorado, is accepting applications for a Swim Program Instructor I.
Responsibilities
- Develop appropriate means necessary to offer quality swim lessons while remaining up to date on current trends
- Design, organize, and direct activities of participants in order to provide a high level of quality instruction for all participants
Requirements
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence of required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
- A background check and reference checks will be required prior to employment.
- Must be at least 15 years old
- Ability to develop, instruct, and oversee assigned programs and supervise large groups of individuals
- Spanish is considered a plus
- Special Requirements: Prior experience in instructional swim is preferred and training in teaching Learn-To-Swim classes is required. Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence of required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
Nice to have
- Thorough knowledge and application of teaching swimming and water safety skills
- Considerable knowledge of program content and teaching techniques governing all levels of Learn-to-Swim programs
- Thorough knowledge of Avon Recreation Center rules, policies, and procedures
- Ability to work with resources available to enhance program instruction
- Must possess current First Aid/CPR/AED certification or the ability to obtain within one (1) month of hire
- all swimming skills and certifications must remain current
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
