About the role

In this position, you'll help ensure that consumers who borrow money to buy a home and other consumer goods are treated fairly.

Four (4) years experience in the examination of consumer credit institution policies and practices and a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field.
Experience creating and following examination procedures
Knowledge of Maine laws governing mortgage lending, and mortgage servicing.
The ability to analyze financial statements.
Ability to teach and supervise examiners

Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate:
Experience in administrative enforcement actions.
Experience with cyber security, crypto currency or fintech companies
Audit or examination experience

Comfort learning and using multiple computer systems and applications to support financial and regulatory auditing.

Conducting examinations of mortgage lenders and servicers.
Training and supervising staff in the conduct of examinations of lenders, including meeting with company representatives, drafting examination reports and conducting exit interviews
Identifying violations of applicable laws and bringing appropriate cases to the Attorney General's office for possible legal action.
Interpreting statutes and recommending amendments where needed.
Ensuring compliance with state laws, rules, confidentiality standards, and information security policies.
