About the role

  • Neuberger is seeking an experienced attorney in the Investment Company Act of 1940 to join its New York-based Legal and Compliance Team.
  • This position will report to the General Counsel - U.S. Registered Funds.
  • This is an exceptional opportunity for a well-rounded investment management attorney who enjoys working on many different sophisticated matters, wants substantial business team and client contact and is a team player.

Responsibilities

  • This position will be providing legal advice and support on Neuberger Berman's U.S. registered fund business, including mutual funds, exchange-traded funds and closed-end funds.
  • The lawyer will also provide support to our intermediary distribution efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and JD required
  • Member of New York State Bar (or the ability to waive in)
  • At least 5 years of experience working with U.S. registered funds and the Investment Company Act of 1940 at a major U.S. law firm or with an in-house legal department
  • Mutual Funds/ 1940 Act experience required
  • Capable of working independently but with ability to recognize when to seek guidance in complex situations
  • Pro-active approach with the ability to engage with and communicate effectively with senior management

Nice to have

  • Experience working with boards of trustees/directors of U.S. registered products strongly preferred
  • Experience working on intermediary relationships for U.S. registered products a plus

Compensation

  • The salary range for this role is $200,000-$225,000.
  • This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.
  • We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future.
  • This job is also eligible for a discretionary bonus, which, along with base salary and retirement contributions, is part of our total comprehensive package.
  • Note: No amount of pay is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable.
  • The amount and availability of any bonus, commission, production, or any other form of compensation that are allocable to a particular employee remains in the Company's sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified at the Company's sole discretion, consistent with the law.
