H-1B wage level

the lottery is wage-weighted — each level is one more entry

Level I · 1×
Level I$106,0381 entry
Level II$133,9732 entries
Level III$161,8863 entries
Level IV$189,8214 entries

The bottom of this range ($20,000) is below the Level I prevailing wage of $106,038. An H-1B cannot be filed below the prevailing wage, so an offer at the floor of this band could not be sponsored as posted.

DOL prevailing wage, 2026-27 wage year · Electrical Engineers (17-2071) · San Francisco-Oakland-Fremont, CA. Wage level is derived by USCIS from the offered wage, occupation and worksite; the occupation shown is inferred from the job title.

Employer immigration record

from this employer's Department of Labor filings

Green-card follow-through: 100%

Of 5 labor certifications old enough to have been used, 0 expired without the employer filing the next step. Median time from filing to decision: 513 days.100% of their filings were for a worker who already held the job.Only certifications past the 180-day window are counted — recent ones cannot have expired yet.

Files H-1B transfers

9 transfer filings in the last year, covering 9 workers. Median labor-condition decision: 7 days. An employer that already files transfers is one that can take over an existing H-1B.

Sourced from Department of Labor LCA, PERM and prevailing-wage disclosure data. Employer matching is by name, so figures may be split across an employer's legal entities. Absence of a filing means none appears in our copy of the data, not that none exists.

About the role

  • Conduct comprehensive topology comparison and trade-off analyses evaluating efficiency, power density, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Architect the low-voltage (LV) subsystem, including auxiliary power supplies, sensing circuitry (voltage/current/temperature), and hardware-level protection.
  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on power electronics.

Responsibilities

  • Design high-voltage (800V - 25kVdc, 480-800Vac) and high-power (10kW-500kW) converters tailored for utility-scale BESS and industrial infrastructure.
  • Design robust gate driver circuits and dedicated gate driver power supplies to ensure safe, high-frequency switching operations.
  • Lead the design, modeling, and specification of custom magnetic components, including transformers and inductors utilizing Litz-wire or PCB-winding architectures.
  • Design and optimize EMI filters, including differential-mode and common-mode inductors, X/Y-caps, and damping elements.
  • Drive high-voltage, high-power PCB/PCBA layout design, ensuring clearance/creepage rules and signal integrity under high-noise environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Mechanical, Controls/Firmware, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Compliance) to define requirements, test specifications, and achieve industry certifications
  • Experience mentoring test technicians to execute design verification, interpret test data, and define component maturity criteria.

Requirements

  • Experience with power semiconductor selection, gate drive design, and hardware protection circuits.
  • Success depends on sound engineering judgment, hands-on lab validation skills, and the ability to resolve ambiguous technical trade-offs with limited direction.
  • Proficiency with circuit simulation, FEA simulation, and CAD tools (e.g., Simulink, LTspice, Ansys Maxwell/Q3D, Altium Designer).
  • Proficiency with lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, impedance analyzers, network analyzers, and signal generators.
  • Foundational knowledge of control theory and embedded systems.
  • Strong ability to select circuit components considering both electrical performance and manufacturability (DFM).

Nice to have

  • 5-7 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a strong focus on power conversion or energy storage products, ideally for mass production.
  • Experience in high voltage (up to 25kVdc, 34.5kVac) for SST is a plus.

Skills

  • Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Strong analytical and systematic problem-solving skills.

Compensation

  • $182,500 - $242,500 USD
  • Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

Company info

  • About Redwood Materials
  • Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 by
  • JB Straubel, co-founder and former CTO of Tesla, on a simple but radical idea:
  • the critical minerals powering the energy transition already exist.
  • They just need to come back.
  • Today Redwood is the largest lithium-ion battery recycler in North America - recovering, refining, and redeploying critical minerals from end-of-life batteries back into the supply chain.
  • On the energy side, Redwood has deployed the largest second-life battery project in the world, delivering power to AI data centers in months rather than years using proprietary energy architecture engineered entirely in-house.
  • The company is profitable, the market it operates in is projected to grow 20 to 50 times over the next decade, and Redwood is the only company with the supply chain, the technology, and the operational scale to lead it.
