About the role

  • Successful navigation of the policy landscape is critical to deploying and scaling a business.
  • Samsara is looking to grow its Public Policy and Government Relations team by adding an experienced, agile, and capable Manager to forge new relationships, represent the company, and advance our interests in U.S. State and Local markets.
  • Our team works closely with lawmakers, regulatory bodies, trade associations, industry experts and others to proactively engage in initiatives that advance Samsara's business interests.

Responsibilities

  • Help develop and execute policy strategies that advance Samsara's business goals in key U.S. state and local markets on the East Coast, Northeast, Midwest, and Southeast.
  • Identify and track proposed bills, regulations, and policy positions at the state and municipal levels that are relevant to Samsara, assessing their potential impact, developing strategies for engagement, and keeping the business informed.
  • Work closely with the sales teams to help create new tailwinds and affect the adoption and usage of Samsara's technologies through policy initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant governors, mayors, state legislators, regulatory officials, and trade associations.
  • Manage outside consultants to expand our reach in key state markets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to concisely summarize policy issues and advocacy points.

Nice to have

  • Passion for and knowledge of emerging technology and related public policy issues.
  • Experience in state or local government, in advocacy, or in-house on issues facing highly regulated industries.
  • Knowledge and experience with privacy, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, transportation, or other public policy issues related to data-driven industries.
  • In-house experience at another technology company.
  • The ability to effectively translate government-to-business and business-to-government issues.
  • The ability to issue spot, identifying potential opportunities for sales enablement and challenges before they materialize.
