About the role
- The Mechanical Superintendent is responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of mechanical (piping) construction activities for oil and gas compressor stations.
- This includes overseeing crews, scheduling, quality control, subcontractor coordination, and ensuring all work is performed safely and in compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily field operations and assign tasks to foremen, mechanical crews, and subcontractors.
- Develop and maintain construction schedules in coordination with project managers and engineers.
- Maintain accurate records, including daily logs, labor reports, equipment tracking, and progress updates.
- Hire, train, and manage the performance of the mechanical team.
Requirements
- Construction Management or related field degree.
- 8+ years of mechanical or industrial construction experience, with at least 3 years in a superintendent role.
- Proven experience supervising the construction of oil and gas compressor stations or similar facilities.
- Familiarity with OSHA, API, and DOT standards applicable to oil and gas facility construction.
- OSHA 30 certification required.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.
- Overnight travel required.
- Must be able to walk on uneven terrain, climb ladders, and lift 50+ lbs.
- Strong knowledge of piping systems, compressors, pumps, valves, structural supports, and associated codes.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, blueprints, and construction documents.
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- able to direct multiple crews and interface with diverse project teams.
- Work Environment
- Primarily field-based on active oil and gas construction sites.

- Ensure strict compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and client requirements.
- Coordinate inspections, quality control procedures, and testing (e.g., hydrostatic, pneumatic).
- Interface with clients, inspectors, and project stakeholders to provide updates and resolve field issues.
