About the role
- The role will live on campus and serve in the SHRL resident director on-call rotation.
Responsibilities
- UPPERCLASS COMMUNITY PROGRAMMING AND ENGAGEMENT Assists in developing and implementing programming models and engagement strategies for upper-class students living in University-affiliated communities and off-campus.
- Coordinates events, programs, and initiatives designed to foster belonging, academic connection, and social engagement among upperclass students who have transitioned out of traditional residence halls.
- Supports the Senior Director in maintaining collaboration with the Director of Residence Life and staff to ensure continuity of programming and student support across on-campus and off-campus populations.
- Serves as operational support for the office's upperclass community engagement calendar and logistics.
- COMMUNITY AND NEIGHBORHOOD RELATIONS SUPPORT Assists in preparation and logistics for participation in city municipal meetings, neighborhood forums, and civic events where the Senior Director represents the University.
- Supports outreach and communication with South Side neighborhood organizations, including the South Side Community Council, Block Watches, South Side Community Forum, and the South Side Chamber of Commerce, as directed.
- Supports the Senior Director's collaboration with the Department of Athletics and the Office of Greek Life to provide targeted off-campus living guidance to student athletes and fraternity/sorority members residing on the South Side.
- Manages office social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and other relevant platforms), the office website, email lists, and Campus Link, ensuring content is current, accurate, and aligned with the Senior Director's communications priorities Completes other duties as assigned.
Compensation
- Coordinates the annual update and distribution of the Off-Campus Guide and all related commuter resources.

- Manages day-to-day operations of the Commuter Center, including space oversight, resource availability, and responsive student assistance.
- Supports the Commuter Council as a staff resource, assisting the Senior Director in administering the student-led governing body.
- Assists in monitoring and responding to emerging issues affecting commuter and off-campus student welfare, including renter's rights, housing instability, and fire safety.
- Provides ongoing proactive and responsive communication to commuter and off-campus students via email, campus platforms, and the office email account.
