About the role

Review and approve tasks to ensure deadlines are met.
Review drawings and designer submittals for accuracy.
Interface with estimating and construction team and coordinate with construction approach.

Lead and manage both internal and external engineers and coordinate design activities between estimating, construction, external consultants, and clients.
Due diligence and review of design provided by sub-consultants and clients, performing quality control reviews, checking the design with independent analyses and models.
Monitor and report progress against design schedule. Review and approve tasks to ensure deadlines are met.
Defend solutions in front of the client and other stakeholders, achieving the approval of the design.
Be vigilant and anticipate technical risks and design strategies to protect the JV against those technical risks.
Function as the prime contact coordinating the resolution of design and engineering problems, reviewing progress, recommending alternatives, and advising on project objectives.
Coordinate with clients, engineering consultants and other stakeholders to discuss on and solve design and construction related topics.
Initiate, coordinate, and design projects and calculations, as needed.
Prepare and monitor design budget and schedule.
S&B USA Construction is a family of diversified heavy-civil and industrial construction companies with a primary focus on Alternative Delivery procurement projects such as Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC), Construction management at risk (CMAR) and Public-private partnerships (P3).

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Civil Engineering is required.
10 years of related work experience, with at least two projects bigger than $100M
Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in at least one state, with the ability to obtain registration in the state of Pennsylvania is required.
Familiarity with AASHTO, FHWA and PennDOT regulations is required.
Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
Demonstrated familiarity with CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering is also required.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain good relationships and partnerships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and construction partners required.
Experience and good relationship working with PennDOT is highly valuable.
Knowledge of means and methods and construction techniques is highly valuable.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods.
Design Build Institute of America (DBIA) is highly valuable.
P3 or Design Build experience in large projects (>$500M) on the contractor or designer side is highly valuable.
On-site and field experience on civil projects preferred.

Knowledge and experience with scheduling software (i.e., Microsoft Project and/or P-6) preferred.
