About the role

Load and unload cargo area of truck, either individually or with assistance of dock workers, with or without mechanical freight handling equipment.
Inspect truck for defects and safe operating condition before, during, and after trips and submit a written report on the condition of the truck at the end of each trip or tour of duty.
Check shipping papers to determine the nature of load and to check for the presence of hazardous materials. (We currently DO NOT handle or ship hazardous materials-notify dispatch immediately if you find or suspect hazardous materials within your load)

To transport and deliver freight by driving a gasoline or diesel powered strait truck (bobtail), pick up truck or van, for short distances.
Drive truck to destination in accordance with federal regulations, normally in periods of up to 10 hours of driving followed by an off-duty period of at least eight consecutive hours.

Must have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
Must have 3 years actual driving experience, for entry level applicants.
Must have the ability to read, write, and speak in the English language.
Must have the ability to read, write, and perform simple mathematical calculations.
Must have the general mental ability to handle receipts, read maps, road signs, maintain logs, etc.
Must have good oral communication skills.
Must be able to follow instructions and take directions.
Must have working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems.
Must have ability to learn of DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, inspection and maintenance, and transportation of hazardous materials.
Must be able to sit and remain alert while driving for an aggregate period of up to 10 hours.

Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures, and comply with all federal, state, and local regulations for the safe operations of a commercial motor vehicle.
Report all accidents involving driver or company equipment (including vehicles, forklifts, pallets jacks, etc.)
Development and maintenance of professional and effective relations between the company and the customer.
Professional representations of the company and the trucking industry through responsible driving.
