About the role
- Provide evaluation and assessment of injuries sustained by school's students during school athletic events.
- Provide appropriate first aide and emergency care to injured athletes as appropriate and within the scope of practice of an athletic trainer.
- Direct students and parents to follow up with appropriate health care providers when necessary.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records of all athletic injuries reported by District's students that occur during school athletic events including any rehabilitation interventions administered by the Athletic Trainer.
- Maintain an emergency plan that includes emergency phone numbers for the contracted school or program.
- Maintain the athletic training facility at the District.
Requirements
- BOC Certified, New York State License and Registration Skills: Must be able to assess and provide treatment and training interventions for student athletes within the athletic trainer scope of practice.
- The athletic trainer must be able to carry out patient treatment plans under the direct supervision of the licensed therapist for patients with orthopedic and neurological diagnoses.
- Experience in an outpatient clinic setting strongly preferred but not required.
Skills
- Must be able to assess and provide treatment and training interventions for student athletes within the athletic trainer scope of practice.
- Must be able to work independently with excellent time management skills.
- Must have excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Must be able to multitask and work in a fast paced department, organizing and maintaining the cleanliness of treatment space and equipment.
- Experience working with student athletes in a high school setting strongly preferred.
- Posted Salary Range USD $31.64 - USD $47.46 /Hr.
Compensation
- Meet with the District's Athletic Director at least two times (2x) per year to review policies and procedures, etc.
