About the role
- Applies crime risk and safety hazard prevention techniques, methods, practices, and enforces University policies and procedures.
- Public Safety Supervisors monitor the security of the buildings and surrounding areas of the campus.
- May serve as liaison between external law enforcement agencies and the campus community.
Responsibilities
- Monitors and reports on a continual basis all conditions which may create security or safety hazards on the College property. Monitors the camera system to ensure there is no criminal activity at other parts of the campus.
- Responds to complaints from the campus community and assists parties to resolve issues as appropriate. Respond and perform access control duties including securing and/or unlocking academic buildings for faculty, staff and students
- May provide first responder support for fires and/or first aid needs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Previous Security or Law Enforcement Supervisory experience required
- Knowledge and skills for this role typically obtained through a Bachelor's Degree.
- Must have a valid California driver's license and safe driving record.
- Contacts law enforcement, fire, or other public agencies as required.
- Knowledge of:
- Basic security principles and practice, public safety codes, policies and regulations
- Record keeping techniques and report writing requirements
- Basic computer programs such as email, MS Office suite, etc.
- Supervisory principles and practices
- Clery Act, Title IX, and the National Incident Management System (NIMS)
- Current public safety methods and procedures
- Current criminal codes and laws, and effective investigative techniques and procedures.
- Safety policies, practices, procedures and requirements of the department, including the Illness & Injury Prevention Plan.

Compensation
- $35.00 - $55.00 per hour
