About the role

- Job Description As a Soft Goods Fabrication Technician, you will be instrumental in the production of high-performance soft goods, including insulation, heat shields, and protective packaging for our lunar lander systems.
Responsibilities
- Operate material handling equipment (forklifts, cranes, etc.) and precision calibrated tools (torque wrenches, micrometers, etc.) to maintain high safety and quality standards.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for safety and efficiency, enhancing overall productivity.
- Drive the transition from development to production, proactively performing troubleshooting and maintenance as needed.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas following 5S principles to promote safety and operational efficiency.
- We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion.
- This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
Requirements
- Proficiency in operating industrial straight stitch and bartack sewing machines
- Ability to work A, B, C and D shift as needed.
Nice to have
- Experience working on human space flight soft goods or aerospace soft goods
- Experience working on consumer soft goods products such as backpacks, harnessing, safety gear, workwear, or outdoor apparel.
- Experience with material handling and large-scale cutting tables
- Experience with physical testing of soft goods materials and assemblies
- Translate engineering definition to 2D flat patterns
- Experience with heat seal assembly techniques
- Maintain cleanroom or controlled environment standards as required for flight hardware integration
- Knowledge of precision assembly processes and handling large aerospace components
Compensation
- Paid Time Off: Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays.
