About the role
- At PLNU, the Student Success Counselor plays a key role in guiding students through their academic journey, with a strong focus on enhancing retention and graduation rates.
- As part of a collaborative team, this role requires both teamwork and the ability to work independently.
- This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.
Responsibilities
- This position provides personalized academic advising and support to a diverse caseload of adult, graduate, and professional students, helping them achieve success in alignment with the university's mission and goals.
- Support campus-wide activities such as orientation and graduation
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational abilities
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, exercising professional judgment in sensitive situations
- Ability to communicate effectively with others in person and by phone
- Proficiency with data management, reporting, and technological tools
- Exceptional communication skills across platforms (phone, email, virtual, and in-person)
- Demonstrated ability to build rapport with diverse student populations and other departments within the university
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail and follow-through
- Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement. In addition, staff agree to live in agreement with PLNU's Community Life Covenant
- The job offer is contingent on the successful completion of a background check. PLNU will consider qualified applicants, including those with criminal histories, in a manner consistent with state and local "Fair Chance" laws
Nice to have
- 1-2 years of experience in academic advising or a related field preferred
Compensation
- Pay Rate: $26.00 - $26.50 per hour
