About the role
- Crucial to the organization's long-term strategy, the Project Engineer is a key driver behind our future capital programs and distribution automation, championing the transition toward a smarter and more resilient grid.
- Oversee the development and implementation of major capital projects and programs.
- Organize, coordinate and control all stages of the project lifecycle of major capital and maintenance programs and projects in accordance with Hydro Ottawa policies, procedures, and specifications in all project phases from scoping to closeout.
Responsibilities
- include implementing the capital program through the project management of major substation builds and renewals, critical grid modernization initiatives, and more.
- Provide on-going project management in support of our key customer projects. This includes direct customer engagement to develop and execute against Hydro Ottawa's large load connection process.
- Develop financial estimates and project scoping.
- Manage project schedules, scope, budgets and risks.
- Prepare electrical and civil consultant Requests for Proposals, develop bid packages and review and provide recommendations.
- Manage consultants towards meeting project deliverables and deadlines for project design.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering from an accredited university
- Experience in a utility environment considered an asset
- Project Management and System Planning experience considered an asset
- Experience with Asset Management model beneficial
- Knowledge of ISO55000 considered an asset
- Provide input into required capital programs for reliability and amelioration of constraints.
- Manage special projects/programs consisting of one or more sub-projects, from initiation to close out, complete with all required scope, schedule, and budget adherence, as well as risk and overall project reporting.
