About the role
- Coordinate and direct the movement of trucks and freight in order to make pickups and deliveries in an efficient and timely manner.
- Represent company in a positive manner by providing customers with quick, precise, helpful, courteous and professional customer service.
- Record and allocate all requests for delivery and pickup within established territories among the available drivers.
Responsibilities
- Maintain radio and phone contact with trucks, receive and dispatch aid in response to any emergency needs for assistance or repairs.
- Maintain written/computerized records and other forms of information.
Requirements
- 1-2 years administrative experience required
- Experience with MS Excel and Word
- Ability to work without supervision
- Knowledge of DOT regulations as they pertain to our trucking environment
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and at a fast pace.
- Good knowledge of geographical area to facilitate efficient routing.
- Bachelor's degree in business, transportation, or related field of study
- Minimum Requirements:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Prior experience/exposure to logistics or trucking operations
- Good management skills in making driver assignments and developing cooperation among the team of drivers.
- Preferred Requirements:
- Previous experience as a truckload dispatcher
