About the role

  • FTI Consulting's Strategic Communications segment is looking for an enthusiastic self-starter to join its team in Washington, D.C., specializing in providing public affairs and communication services to companies within the industrials sector.
  • Our clients represent a range of industries, including chemicals, manufacturing, infrastructure, agrifood, transportation, and aerospace and defense.
  • Services encompass policy advocacy, issues and crisis communications, media relations, campaigns and reputation management.

Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of integrated communication programs across multiple client accounts simultaneously.
  • Contribute to maintaining and strengthening client relationships through consistent, proactive support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 1-3 years of professional experience in public policy, strategic communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • Proven attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, client-ready deliverables.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365.
  • Ability to travel to FTI offices and client site(s) as needed.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer on a full-time basis
  • Develop a strong understanding of each client's business strategy, services, key stakeholders, and competitive landscape.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's or graduate degree in communications / public relations, political science, international affairs, journalism or a related field.
  • Experience working in another consulting firm or a media, government or non-governmental organization.
  • Familiarity with media monitoring tools (e.g., Factiva, Cision) or analytics platforms.
  • Understanding of stakeholder engagement, media relations, and/or policy landscapes.
  • Familiarity with clients in the industrials or other highly regulated industries.
  • Exposure to or interest in public opinion research or strategic insights.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced, team-first environment.

Compensation

  • Minimum Pay: $68,000
  • Maximum Pay: $91,000
  • Compensation Disclosure: The compensation range reflects potential base salary for the role.
  • Actual compensation is determined based on a wide array of relevant factors including market considerations, business needs, and an individual's location, skills, level of experience, and qualifications.
