About the role

  • This position involves performing routine tasks related to plant propagation, nursery management, experimental setup, data collection, germplasm collection data management, and maintenance of horticultural research environments.
  • The role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to assist with ongoing scientific studies.
  • This position is funded by a grant or restricted funds.

Responsibilities

  • Collects samples and measurement data from experiments. Implements and maintains data collection and summarization for field and greenhouse trials.
  • Assists senior staff members in conducting major field and greenhouse experiments and consults in developing horticultural research protocols.
  • Assists student workers and supports undergraduate and graduate research students in their assigned projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift moderately heavy objects.
  • Ability to exert heavy force.
  • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Nice to have

  • Two years of related experience i n horticulture, plant science, or greenhouse/nursery operations.
  • Strong knowledge of plant taxonomy, nomenclature, plant care, propagation techniques, and horticultural research methods.
  • Readiness to obtain a Texas pesticide applicator license if required.
