About the role
- This position involves performing routine tasks related to plant propagation, nursery management, experimental setup, data collection, germplasm collection data management, and maintenance of horticultural research environments.
- The role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to assist with ongoing scientific studies.
- This position is funded by a grant or restricted funds.
Responsibilities
- Collects samples and measurement data from experiments. Implements and maintains data collection and summarization for field and greenhouse trials.
- Assists senior staff members in conducting major field and greenhouse experiments and consults in developing horticultural research protocols.
- Assists student workers and supports undergraduate and graduate research students in their assigned projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to lift moderately heavy objects.
- Ability to exert heavy force.
- Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Nice to have
- Two years of related experience i n horticulture, plant science, or greenhouse/nursery operations.
- Strong knowledge of plant taxonomy, nomenclature, plant care, propagation techniques, and horticultural research methods.
- Readiness to obtain a Texas pesticide applicator license if required.
