About the role
- ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES or KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Ensure every component is built to supplier datasheet and manufacturer DFM standards with correct parameters, metadata, and revision history.
- Identify opportunities to script and automate routine library tasks to reduce manual effort and library errors.
Responsibilities
- You will be the single source of truth for component data across our design organization.
- Library Ownership: Create, validate, and maintain schematic symbols, PCB footprints, pad stacks, and 3D models in Altium.
- Standards & Compliance: Apply IPC-7351 land pattern standards, JEDEC package standards, and internal design rules to all new and revised components.
- Confirm footprints and land patterns support design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) requirements before release.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work directly with design engineers, supply chain, and contract manufacturers to source accurate technical data, resolve part conflicts, and support board bring-up and DFM/DFA reviews.
- Tooling & Automation: Maintain integration between the ECAD library and PLM systems. Identify opportunities to script and automate routine library tasks to reduce manual effort and library errors.
- Apptronik is a human-centered robotics company developing AI-powered robots to support humanity in every facet of life.
- We're looking for a detail-oriented ECAD Librarian to own and grow our Altium component library, ensuring every schematic symbol, PCB footprint, and 3D model is accurate, standardized, and manufacturable.
- Create, validate, and maintain schematic symbols, PCB footprints, pad stacks, and 3D models in Altium.
- Apply IPC-7351 land pattern standards, JEDEC package standards, and internal design rules to all new and revised components.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of electronic components, package drawings, manufacturer datasheets, pinouts, land patterns, and PCB fabrication/assembly processes and constraints.
- Experience with component templates, naming conventions, parameter schemas, revision control, lifecycle states, permissions, and part-request workflows.
- Experience with PLM systems (Arena, Windchill, or similar) and maintaining the ECAD-to-PLM integration.
- 2-5+ years of experience in ECAD library management, component engineering, or PCB design.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
Nice to have
- Hands-on expertise with Altium Designer
- familiarity with other ECAD tools (Cadence Allegro, Mentor/Xpedition) a plus.
- Practical knowledge of IPC land-pattern principles, IPC-A-610, and other relevant industry standards, plus solid DFM/DFA judgment.
- Scripting experience (Python or Perl) for library automation is a strong plus.
Benefits
- Our flagship humanoid robot, Apollo, is built to collaborate thoughtfully with people, starting with critical industries such as manufacturing and logistics, with future applications in healthcare, the home, and beyond.
