About the role
- It is a non-partisan think tank providing expert policy analysis, educational and professional development services, and a hub for engaging with the region's arts and culture.
- The Research Assistant is a critical role within the MEI Policy Center, dedicated to supporting various research projects of MEI scholars, as well as managing logistics and administrative tasks.
- The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented and highly organized individual with a strong background in research, analysis, writing methodologies, and data analysis, as well as a demonstrated interest in the Middle East.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive literature reviews to gather relevant information.
- Maintain detailed and organized records of research activities and materials, as well as collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure smooth execution of research projects.
- Provide administrative support to the scholar(s), including managing travel, coordinating with external organizations, handling correspondence, and responding to requests for information.
- Plan and organize events, including preparing invitations, making travel arrangements, corresponding with speakers and presiders, preparing background papers, and providing other logistical support.
- Provide support across departmental lines and for other scholars, upon request.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team.
Requirements
- Participate in team meetings, seminars, and training sessions as required.
- Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., Python, Stata, Excel) and research tools.
Nice to have
- Bachelor's degree in Middle East studies, international affairs, political science, or a related field is required (Master's degree preferred).
- Proficiency in Arabic is preferred.
Compensation
