About the role
- The Dean of Students is responsible for fostering a positive, safe, inclusive, and student-centered school culture across grades Kindergarten through Eight.
- Utilize age-appropriate strategies and interventions that foster student engagement, self-regulation, responsibility, and success.
- Conduct investigations related to student behavior, school climate concerns, and student misconduct.
Responsibilities
- Promote practices that support the academic, social, emotional, behavioral, and developmental growth of students in grades K-8.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and families to identify and address student developmental needs.
- Support students in developing positive relationships, self-advocacy skills, resilience, and responsible decision-making.
- Behavior Support, Intervention, and Coaching Systems
- Implement and oversee student discipline procedures consistent with school policies and restorative practices.
- Monitor behavioral and attendance data to identify trends, evaluate interventions, and support data-driven decision-making.
- Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of individualized behavior support plans and interventions.
- Coordinate and support Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III behavioral interventions within the school's MTSS framework.
- Participate in Student Success Team (SST), MTSS, and intervention meetings to develop and monitor student support plans.
- Teacher Coaching and Capacity Building
Requirements
- Valid California Teaching Credential is required.
- The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- R egularly required to possess dexterity of hand and fingers, kneel, bend at the waist, sit on the floor, climb stairs and reach overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally to perform assigned duties
Nice to have
- a master's degree is preferred
- Experience working with Elementary and/or Middle School students
- Experience coaching or mentoring teachers preferred
- Administrative Services Credential from California Commission on Teacher Credentialing is preferred

- R egularly required to speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in indoor and outdoor classrooms
- O ccasionally required to lift and/or move up to 2 5 lbs.
- D uties are normally performed in a school, classroom, playground and/or other outdoor settings
- D uties may be performed in seasonal heat, sun, and cold
- T he noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
