About the role
- include maintaining medium- and high-voltage electrical infrastructure, substations, transformers, switchgear, diesel generators, automatic transfer switches, and associated control systems.
- Respond to electrical outages and emergency power system failures during schedule and unscheduled events.
- Participates in lockout/tagout (LOTO), switching procedures, and arc-flash safety programs.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair medium and high voltage (12.47 kV) distribution systems including substations, switch gear, transformers, protective relays, and associated emergency power system.
- Performs work in accordance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, NEC and University safety requirements.
- Supports the diesel generator technician with testing of generators and automatic transfer switches.
- Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Nice to have
- Minimum of 10 years directly related work experience with high voltage electricity.
- Journeyman Electrician license and/or 5-10 years of experience in high-voltage electrical distribution systems, substations, or industrial electrical maintenance.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Skill in the use of various hand and power tools common to the trade.

- Ability to travel to statewide campuses throughout the year.

- Basic computer skills.
