About the role

  • We are seeking a Career Services Specialist/Manager within the Postdoctoral and Graduate Student Education and Research Development Affairs unit (PGERDA) in People Services.
  • Working closely with the Director, the specialist will serve as the primary contact for career services-leading, innovating, and managing all career services and programs.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, designs and builds content for the various career development services including Career Exploration, Assessment, and Planning
  • Leads and organizes career development events for academic career pathways, industry research positions and science related careers.
  • Coordinates career support services with our partners and affiliates as well as post-surveys for effectiveness evaluation purposes.
  • Tracks and maintains our alumni network of early career scientists for reporting purposes.
  • Provides individual career counseling and coaching, advise on job presentations, provide professional development support, networking opportunities, walk-in advising, open office hours, and mock interviews for graduate and professional school, internships and full-time employment.
  • Curates and maintains career opportunities resources.
  • Develops, designs and builds content for the various career development services including Career Exploration, Assessment, and Planning; Career Readiness and Job Search Tools, Resume Writing, Interview Preparation and Negotiation.
  • Proven ability in program planning and implementation, communication and teamwork, with an ability to create recognizable series and events that create value and impact beyond Career Services.
  • Demonstrated advising skills and cultural competence to work with a diverse range of students/postdocs, with the ability to support graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and alumni who are applying to a variety of careers.
  • Ability to create innovative programming reflecting the changing needs of students/postdocs, including usage of new technologies and tools (including AI).

  • Master's degree or PhD preferred with 2+ years of experience in career development and planning, and career advising.

Compensation

  • Compensation -competitive salary. Title and salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
