About the role
- The Material Handler operates powered industrial equipment, including forklifts, high lifts, and both internal combustion and electric-powered vehicles.
- Stage baskets at production equipment and move work-in-process (WIP) materials throughout the facility.
- Sweep and remove debris from floors as needed.
Responsibilities
- Support Dee Zee's environmental policy by proactively implementing processes, identifying improvement opportunities, reducing waste and acting on environmental performance results and findings.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by following 6S procedures, rules and regulations.
- Route and deliver materials to the appropriate areas within the facility.
Requirements
- 1+ year related experience required.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of material hazards and the ability to understand and follow Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Ability to follow safe forklift operating procedures.
- Ability to operate a shrink wrap machine and battery hoist safely and effectively.
- Ability to read and understand Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Must be willing and able to work in an environment with exposure to conditions that may include, but are not limited to, coolant, dust, mist, elevated noise levels and varying temperatures.
- Ability to stop production and prevent the shipment of nonconforming or potentially nonconforming products to customers.
- Ability to communicate effectively with line leads and the departments or areas being serviced.
- Ability to operate handheld scanners to process material movements, perform inventory transactions, and verify material locations.
Nice to have
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
