About the role
- Provide clear, business-oriented legal advice to senior management and cross-functional stakeholders
- Assist with employment and HR-related legal matters as needed
Responsibilities
- This role will work closely with senior leadership, bank partners, and cross-functional teams to support Novo's legal, regulatory, and product initiatives.
- You will play a key role in navigating complex regulatory environments, advising on product development, and ensuring Novo operates in compliance with applicable financial laws and partner requirements.
- Partner with product, compliance, and business teams to provide practical legal guidance on product development and regulatory requirements
- Support the management of litigation matters, including coordination with external counsel
- Support internal teams on regulatory change management and implementation
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of U.S. banking regulations, including customer protection and payments-related frameworks
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable guidance
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Nice to have
- Experience working in a fintech or startup environment
- Background in product counseling within regulated industries
- Exposure to payments, lending, or embedded finance products
- Combination of law firm and in-house experience
Skills
- Interpret and advise on U.S. banking regulations, including customer protection frameworks such as UDAAP
