About the role

  • Multi-Enclave/Commercial Solutions SME Clearwaters.IT is recruiting for a Storage and Data Protection SME.
  • In this capacity, they will be responsible for designing reliable storage architectures and the implementation of robust data resilience strategies; ensuring critical data remains recoverable, compliant, and safe from disasters or breaches.
  • Software may include VMWare vSphere, Citrix Xen, and Microsoft Hyper-V platforms and extends to desktop management and deployment of the VDI otherwise referred to Thin, Zero, Multi-Level, or Trusted Thin Clients.

Responsibilities

  • Manage networks, servers, and storage to include configuration of said equipment to Air Force specifications.
  • Build test and training plans for Airmen to manage, the complex backend virtual environment to include but not limited to Cisco's Unified Computing Systems (UCS), EMC VNX storage area network, VMware vCenter, and VMware Horizon View.
  • Manage storage area networks (SAN) to include EMC or other brands, with the broad understanding of other SAN leaders to include NetApp.
  • Provision virtual servers to support Unified Computing (i.e. virtual call managers) and Share Point deployments to include the conversion from Physical-to-Virtual (P-to-V) on a virtualized data center platform.
  • Build test and training plans to train Airmen to provision, Zero/Thin/Multi-level/Trusted Thin Clients to include experience in deploying this capability on existing infrastructure (category 5e cable and fiber).
  • Manage virtual capabilities where bandwidth and access issues create unique challenges.
  • Provide customer support and troubleshooting for virtual servers and VDI client hardware and software and coordinating with Government Network Control Centers and Higher Headquarters.
  • Manage PCoIP or similar technologies.
  • Perform installation, configuration, and management of Atlantis iLio or like technology. iLio allows a datacenter to use Server RAM as primary storage as opposed to traditional storage solutions.
  • Manage VMWare vRealize, which provides complete visibility in one place, across applications, storage and network devices, with an open and extensible platform supported by third-party management packs.

Requirements

  • Develop operational checklists as required.
  • Manage virtual capabilities, to include the storage, network, server (applications and databases) aspects and the software required to centrally manage this architecture.
  • This includes demonstrated proficiency with Stratusphere or like technology.
  • Stratusphere provides the visibility required to more effectively manage desktop perfor mance and the user experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent military training and/or directly relevant experience will be considered.
