- Body Repair Technician – Job Description
- The Body Repair Technician is responsible for performing high-quality structural and cosmetic repairs to vehicles following OEM procedures and shop standards. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering safe, accurate, and timely repairs.
Responsibilities
- Perform teardown, structural repairs, metal straightening, panel replacement, and bodywork according to OEM repair guidelines.
- Work closely with estimators, painters, and other technicians to maintain an efficient workflow.
- Document all repairs performed and communicate any supplemental damage to the estimator or production manager.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with shop safety protocols.
- Perform final fit and finish checks before the vehicle moves to the paint or reassembly stage.
Requirements
- Familiarity with OEM repair procedures and the use of repair-planning technology.
- Ability to read and interpret repair plans, measurements, and technical documents.
- I-CAR certifications (or willingness to obtain) preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and high attention to detail.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and move up to 50 lbs., and perform tasks requiring bending, kneeling, and standing.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
