About the role
- Silvus is seeking a Principal Embedded Software Engineer, who will report to the Director of Software Engineering on our Software Engineering team.
- The successful individual in this role will participate in the development of Silvus' MANET radios and advanced research projects.
- This is an opportunity to work on all aspects of the system including device drivers, networking functions and services, encryption, and security features.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architectural design and development of highly efficient low-latency embedded firmware on ARM-based SoCs (e.g., UltraScale+), and optimizing Linux-based networking stacks for wireless applications.
- Device driver and board support package development and maintenance for both ARM and RISC-V based systems.
- Perform other related duties of which the above are representative.

Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or relevant engineering fields.
- 8+ years of relevant embedded system software development experience.
- Expertise in C programming and experience in Linux kernel driver development.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen due to clients under U.S. government contracts.
- NOTE - As a US Federal Contractor, Silvus Technologies requires that ALL candidates being considered for employment for any position (regardless of level) MUST be a U.S. Person (permanent resident or citizen).
- Stricter U.S. Citizen ONLY requirements (needed for some Engineering or R&D roles) will be included in the Required Qualifications section of the posted position.
Skills
- Knowledge of and experience with different security protocols and encryption algorithms such as suite of CNSA algorithms.
- Demonstrated experience with socket programming and various Internet/Ethernet protocols.
- Understanding of MAC and Networking layer of a communication system.
- Deep understanding of Internet Protocol Security (IPsec), network protocols, data authentication and encryption.
- Linux Interrupt Service Routine development.
- This position is based at Silvus Technologies' headquarters in the heart of vibrant West Los Angeles, CA, and is on a hybrid schedule.
- Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Compensation
- The pay range is NOT a guarantee. It is based on market research and peer data, and will vary depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
- $180,000 - $220,000 USD
