About the role

  • Responsible for the overall coordination and implementation of environmental health and safety programs to assure compliance with regulatory agency guidelines and company policies.
  • - Plans, implements, and manages programs to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths, and financial losses.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, implements, and manages programs to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths, and financial losses.
  • Develops accident-prevention and loss-control systems and programs for incorporation into operational policies of organization.
  • Manages and coordinates safety activities, through subordinate supervisory personnel, to ensure implementation of safety activities throughout organization.
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA, DOT and EPA, prepares necessary reports and maintains compliance records
  • Performs and/or assists workplace evaluations reviews, accident investigations and coordinates with insurance carriers for workers compensation, property and auto
  • Assists risk management in preparing the safety portion of the pre-qualification documents
  • Performs other functions as necessary or as assigned

Requirements

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • A Bachelors Degree and five or more years of relevant experience involving demonstrated abilities in safety and compliance, EPA and OSHA regulatory experience
  • Attends conferences, meeting, and workshops to keep up-to-date on new safety methods and procedures to applicable codes and regulations or to maintain required level of certification
  • Ability to understand and comply with all applicable federal, state and local legislation and codes governing environmental health and safety applicable to the Company

Skills

  • Previous experience in environmental health and safety compliance required
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and coordinate multiple work activities to meet critical deadlines, as well as working independently
  • Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of individuals in person, via telephone and in writing
  • Ability to operate computer, telephone, and other office equipment
  • Excellent computer skills in word processing, and spreadsheets
  • Strong work ethic with an enthusiastic, positive attitude, and the highest level of integrity
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Maintain regular and timely attendance
  • Work is generally performed in a safe and comfortable office and warehouse environment.
  • The employee is regularly required to: talk, feel the attributes of objects, grasp, push, and reach with arms or hands.
  • Specific vision abilities include: clarity of vision at 20 inches or less; ability to adjust eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
