About the role
- Aretum is seeking a skilled Angular Frontend Web Developer to join our team supporting a large-scale federal technology modernization program.
Responsibilities
- Develop Angular components and UI features against sprint commitments, translating Figma designs into clean, maintainable production code using approved Design System components, tokens, and patterns
- Build and consume RESTful APIs, collaborating with backend developers on data contracts, request/response structures, and integration points to ensure frontend components display data correctly
- Implement accessibility standards in all UI code, including proper ARIA attributes, semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, and color contrast compliance per WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 requirements
- Contribute to the Design System through the governance process: identify reusable patterns, propose new components, and ensure contributions are documented in Figma and Confluence
- Build responsive, cross-browser interfaces that work across supported browsers and devices
- Maintain clean, well-documented TypeScript and Angular code that passes SonarQube quality gates: B+ minimum for bugs and smells, zero critical vulnerabilities
- Support production triage when assigned, diagnosing frontend issues, implementing fixes, and ensuring all changes follow the standard code review and CI/CD pipeline process
- Collaborate with UX designers on design feasibility during backlog refinement and provide technical input on story decomposition and estimation
- In this role, you will build and maintain Angular web applications, implement UI components from a shared Design System, integrate with RESTful backend microservices, and write frontend tests to ensure code quality and reliability.
- You will translate Figma designs into production code, build responsive and cross-browser interfaces, and collaborate with backend developers, UX designers, and federal product owners within an Agile scrum team.
Requirements
- 5 years of applicable experience in frontend web development
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or 3 years of additional experience)
- Proficiency in Angular (version 12+), TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3, with hands-on experience building component-based single-page applications
- Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and Section 508 compliance, with experience implementing basic accessible UI patterns such as semantic HTML, ARIA labels, and keyboard navigation
- Experience writing frontend unit and integration tests using frameworks such as Jasmine, Karma, or Jest
- Public Trust Eligibility Required
- This is a contingent position, meaning employment is dependent upon the successful award of the associated contract to Aretum and completion of any required background investigation or security clearance verification.
Nice to have
- Experience with federal government contracts, including compliance with FAR regulations, ATO processes, and working on mission-critical or regulatory systems
- Proficiency with Agile project management tools (Jira, Confluence) and experience working in Scrum or SAFe environments with 2 to 3 week sprint cycles
- Experience with Bootstrap or similar CSS frameworks used alongside a custom Design System
- Experience with automated accessibility scanning tools such as aXe, pa11y, or WAVE integrated into CI workflows
- Experience with Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium for end-to-end frontend testing
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI preferred) and understanding of how frontend builds and tests integrate into the deployment workflow
