About the role

  • Understand and apply principles, theories, and concepts related to the engineering profession and ERCOT culture.
  • Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Structure planning studies and sensitivity analyses to determine the need for transmission improvements and to evaluate proposed projects, including technical and financial analyses.

Responsibilities

  • Design and perform steady-state contingency analyses using power flow models (PowerWorld, PSSE, etc.) under the direction of a senior-level engineer and/or management.
  • Assist in providing market simulation/forecasting and transmission planning analyses to support other ERCOT activities, as appropriate.
  • Provide engineering analysis and technical support to ensure continuing reliable operations of the electric power grid in compliance with NERC standards and ERCOT market rules.
  • Provide electrical engineering analysis and technical support for the planning and operation of the electric power system.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of job-related work experience in excess of degree requirements.
  • Senior Engineer: Minimum 5 years of job-related work experience in excess of degree requirements.

Nice to have

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a power system engineer or similar type role.
  • Experience within the electric utility industry preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a power system engineer or similar type role.
  • Professional Engineer (Preferred)
  • Engineer 2: Minimum 1 year of experience as a power system engineer or similar type role.
  • Engineer 3: Minimum 3 years of experience as a power system engineer or similar type role.

Compensation

  • $87,000 - $120,000

Visa & Work Authorization
